General Update of the MCC – Tuesday 19 September 2023

Dear Members,

Please see an update on various matters completed, or in progress, around the facility.

Hole 13 Works

In line with the Course Master Plan, the next two weeks will see the 13th hole white tee box removed, with the two greenside bunkers being reduced in size. This is in line with the requirement to reduce redundant areas of the course to continual improve the core playing surfaces. This will also allow better traffic flow, in particular around bottle necks, to improve areas of wear and cart damage, similar the project work on 3rd to 4th, 6th to 7th and the recent 12th to 13th.

The 13th tees will be forward for a period of time and we ask all players to be mindful of staff working in this area. If you are verbally or visually instructed by staff for play, please follow their instructions.

Tree Stumps

The Club has worked closely with the City of Mandurah for the introduction of a Tree Management Plan. This will see more than 200 dead trees that serve no purpose or no animal habitat, to be removed, which is at the request of the City. Unfortunately, the weather did not prove favourable last week but we have started this program, prioritising those in high density dead tree areas, or those adjacent to the course effecting either play or the visual aspect for golfers.

Please be mindful if you are in a cart as damage can be easily caused if not paying attention, if colliding with a tree stump. The cost to the driver of this damage can be significant, so please take care.

Practice Range Net

This installation of this net took place over the last month and as you will see, it is a significant structure. We remind all players, whether on the range or course, if you hit a ball over a fence and there is any potential it may have caused damage, to report it to the Golf Shop. Members have their own liability insurance with your affiliation fees to Golf Australia and therefore, damage to neighbours may be resolved, which is a far better outcome for them and the Club.

Car Park Speed Humps

Please note speed humps have been installed at the entry and exit to the car park, in order to slow all traffic to a walking pace.

Regards

Grant Shortland- Jones, General Manager
