Bunker Care & Position of Rakes
Please follow these simple rules:
- Please rake bunkers properly. We can’t control every single golfer but if the majority of players raked bunkers properly upon leaving, the quality of all surfaces would be remarkably improved. If you’re in a bunker and someone else has failed to rake after themselves then rake those areas as well as your own.
- Place rakes just inside the entry point facing the direction of play.
- Enter and leave the bunker at the lowest point possible.
Pace of Play
There has been some concern regarding the length of rounds and pace of play.
The aim of the club is to have the first competition group completed in four hours and the last in no later than four hours and thirty minutes. To ensure this is the case, all golfers and groups should ensure they:
- Are at their first hole no less than 10 minutes prior to their tee time.
- Ready golf is encouraged and no “honour” should be played. If it is safe for your to hit, you should do so.
- We encourage members to enjoy their game but people should move with some urgency between hits.
- All groups should be directly behind the group in front, if you are not, you are out of position and must make up the time.
The lowest handicapper in the group is the “Captain” of the group and responsible for the speed of play. Please respect their instructions.
Repairing Pitch Marks
- Always start at the back of the mark and push forward with the repairer.
- Use repairer around all sides and slowley ease turf toward the centre of the mark. Do not life the soil upwards.
- Lightly tap down with putter.
Repairing Divots
- Remove any loose turf from the affected area.
- Knock in all sides of the edge of the divot with your club or your shoe.
- Fill level with surrounding ground with sand.
In taking practice swings players should avoid causing damage to the course, particularly the tees by removing divots.
Damage to Greens
Players should ensure that, when putting down bags, or the flagstick, no damage is done to the putting green, and that neither they nor their caddies damage the hole by standing close to it in handling the flagstick or in removing the ball from the hole. The flagstick should be properly replaced in the hole before the players leave the putting green.
Golf Carts
Golf carts can only be driven by those who have been given approval to do so. Users are required to abide by the Rules governing the Use of Golf Carts.
Green Cutting Procedures
Greens are cut in a predetermined order.
On days on which competitions are programmed, the aim is to cut each green before players on the time sheet are in a position to reach any particular green.
When there is no competition or members playing earlier than times shown on the time sheet, the Greens Staff are instructed to proceed with their programme of work. There are good reasons for this procedure, including the need to complete essential work on the entire course in the time available after allowing for scheduled competitions. On such occasions players must allow work to proceed be it on the fairway, tee, green or practice fairway. Players must not hit if Course Staff or machinery are in range.
