At the recent Men’s Match Committee meeting the issue of pace of play was discussed and in particular the Monthly Mug & Mixed competition. On March 9th the last groups in the afternoon field took over 5hrs to complete their round while the last groups in the morning field were slow through the turn causing a delay with the afternoon field commencing their rounds. This situation has been occurring for some time and the committee feels some action must be taken.
So that the fields in both the morning and afternoon can play at a reasonable pace, complete their rounds in an acceptable time and enjoy the competition the following changes will be made to future Men’s Monthly Mug and the associated Mixed competitions.
- Both competitions will be shotgun starts, AM at 0730 and PM at 1230.
- The Monthly Mug will be played from the Black Tee markers.
- The Mixed competition will be a Par event, Men playing from the Blue Tee markers and Women from the Red Tee markers.
- Bar style food will be supplied by the Match Committee at the completion of play for both the AM and PM fields.
- Competitors are asked to arrive in time to register and proceed to their starting tee.
These changes will come into effect for the April Monthly Mug on Saturday 6th April 2024.
