Fellow Golfers,
This year the Men’s Match Committee has decided to run an “Order of Merit” competition similar to the “Race to Dubai” and the “FedEx Cup”.
Points will be awarded for all Wednesday and Saturday competitions that are handicapped (i.e. not 4BBB, Ambrose, etc.) with the top 70 places (and ties) receiving points. Points will rundown from 7000 points for first, down to 100 points for 70th place. The “Order of Merit” will be based on your average points per competition played and not total points received. This format has been selected so as not disadvantage player who are not able to play as much golf as others. All players will need to play a minimum of ten games before qualifying for the final.
The competition will commence on opening day (16th March) with last points allocated on Wednesday 13th November. The top three places at the end of the season will automatically receive prizes and the top 48 people in the “Order of Merit” will qualify for the final on closing day which is the 23rd November. There will be excellent prizes on offer thanks to our sponsor Kyros Homes. Kyros homes will also sponsor the normal competition on closing day for those that don’t qualify in the top 48.
The is no fee for this competition, you will automatically be in the “Order of Merit” by simply playing in a Wednesday or Saturday competition.
The “Order of Merit” will be updated weekly and published every Monday on the MCC website. Under the “My Information” tag there will be a new section for the Order of Merit so you can keep up to date with where you are placed and banter with your fellow golfers about how well you are doing. There will be two lists (one directly under the other), one for those that have qualified (played at least 10 games) and another list showing all players. Obviously, the qualified list will be empty for the first month or so until some people have played the required 10 games.
Although no longer on the match committee, Dean Stewart will be administering the competition. We have been trialing the system in the background for some time now so hopefully there are no bugs but please be patient if we have some initial issues as this is a new process for everyone.
If you have any questions, please ask Dean
