Lease – Mandurah Country Club

Dear Members

It is extremely pleasing to advise that the new Lease for the Mandurah Country Club has been signed with the City of Mandurah (COM).

It is an excellent result for the Club, with the COM committing to a 30 year lease of the Course Land, on a 15 year with 15 year option, on the lowest leasing costs available.  This was more than what we were advised would be available and considering the desire of local Councils to squeeze leases of golf courses, this shows a significant commitment from the COM to our Club.

Within the lease are environmental obligations but also, an annual Tree Management Plan, that will be endorsed by the COM. This safeguards that the environment will always be protected. However, the COM understands the land is there as a Golf Course, with both parties embracing a collective approach.

On behalf of our Board and Members, I would like to thank the COM and the many departments we have dealt with through this process. At all times, the COM Staff and Council Executive worked in a collaborative approach over two years to bed down the lease. We are fortunate to be located within such a proactive local government.

We must acknowledge and emphasise the importance of our partnership with the COM, and hosting events like the WA Open is part of this partnership. We must support the COM strategic objectives, and continue to build strong ties with the COM and our community.

I would like to thank the current Board, past Committees and employees that have worked over the last two years to achieve this significant outcome..

It was very important for all people in the process to understand the history of the land and Club. The Sutton Family owned the farmland and the land was given to the community of Mandurah to be a golf course. The Sutton Family remain valued members today. As current custodians of the land and Club, it is our intention to continue to provide our Members with the very best Club and leave the Club in a better position for those in the future, as past members have done for us today.
