Dear Members,
Welcome back to a new year and we hope you all had a fantastic festive season.
The golf course remains relatively busy and the weather conditions have not been conducive to easy maintenance. It is imperative the course is maintained to the best standard we can present it in, and improve the good health of the surfaces, through daily maintenance. Please note the following in assisting this:
Course Use Prior to Tee Sheets Opening
- The Club allows an excellent privilege of members having access to play golf prior to the tee sheets opening early in the morning. Maintenance staff still have a priority of getting the course ready for the first tee times, in particular competition days where the course can’t be adjusted during play. There is no right of way for any player during these early times and employees cannot stop their preparation maintenance to wait for golfers. If you are playing early in the morning, you will need to wait until employees have finished their duties on that hole or you may move to another hole to avoid maintenance staff.
Course Use During Normal Play
- With high winds and no rain, irrigation issue and leaf litter become prevalent. General Maintenance of the course, in particular hand watering, will always take place during games of golf and there can’t be an expectation that employees will move out of the way of every golfer. We do our best to avoid golfers or signal to communicate however, keeping the health of the course and the Heath and Safety of our people are always a priority and staff have every right of way. We ask you to please be patient during these disruptions.
We have had some instances whereby members have reprimanded employees undertaking these urgent course duties as it has disrupted their game, whilst in other service areas of the Club, there has been increasing feedback from our employees about members reprimanding them directly.
We have more than 100,000 interactions between employees and guests, with human nature being that not everything is perfect all the time however, our employees strive to give great customer service to our members to make the Club feel special to you all.
There is an increasing sentiment in the hospitality and service industries that patrons are less patient and venting their personal feedback directly to the person in front of them on a counter.
We are fortunate to have very few issues in this area however, there should be no reason whatsoever that any employee is reprimanded or vented to by Members, as I draw you attention to how matters are dealt with under By Law 10.3
All complaints with regard to Staff shall be submitted to the General Manger in writing signed by the member complaining and the General Manager will report them to the Management Committee at its next meeting.
The conduct of a servant of the Club shall in no case be made a matter of personal reprimand by a member.
We thank you for your understanding and am sure you can appreciate the overall benefits of these By Laws in creating a harmonious, happy and respectful Club.
Kind Regards
Grant Shortland- Jones
General Manager
